The Cessna Citation M2 avionics system is powered by the Garmin G3000 suite, which is combination of avionics components / systems from Garmin. This type of system is sometimes called an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS). Cessna has a marketing term for the Cessna Citation M2 avionics system, the Cessna Intrinzic avionics. Cessna referrers to this as a 'proprietary system', however it is just the Garmin G3000 that is also installed on other jets, with a maintenance computer. The G3000 system is a newer touchscreen based avionics system from Garmin. It is a redesign and upgrade from Garmin first entry into full avionics systems, the G1000. The Garmin G3000 avionics contain almost all of the latest features of new avionics systems today. The primary component of the Cessna Citation M2 avionics are the three 14.1 inch touchscreen LCD displays that display all the important flight information. The two side screens are the primary flight displays (PFD) and the middle screen is a multi-function display (MFD). These screens have resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. Also included in the avionics system are two 5.7 inch flight management system (FMS) touchscreen controllers that are mounted in the center console. These items are not actually like regular FMS systems. The two controllers provide input / output of the information from the avionics and also provide control of the radios. - Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) or Autopilot: Garmin GFC 700 with Garmin Mode Controller GMC 710
- Transponders with ADS-B Out Capability: Dual Mode S transponders with Automatic Dependent
- Surveillance - Broadcast Out (ADS-B Out) transmission capability in accordance with FAA TSO-166B
- Weather Radar: Garmin GWX 70 solid state radar with 40 watts transmit power and Altitude Compensated Tilt (ACT).
- Chart View: Approach, SID, STAR charts and airport diagrams provided on displays.
- DME: Collins DME-4000 (non Garmin component).
- Radio Altimeter: Collins ALT-4000 (from 2,500 feet to touchdown).
- Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS I): Garmin GTS 855
- Terrain Avoidance Warning System (TAWS): Garmin Terrain Avoidance Warning System Class B TAWS
- Avionics Dispatch Switch: Allows for limited use of the avionics system without excessive battery drain.
- Electronic Standby Instrument: L-3 Communications ESI-1000 Trilogy solid-state 3.7 inch LCD display located above pilot's PFD.
- Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT): Artex C406-N with 121.5 and 243.0 MHz and the satellite frequency of 406 MHz, interfaces with the GIA. Remote control switch panel on the right hand tilt panel. ELT has a six year lithium battery pack.
- Maintenance Diagnostics system: allows for easier troubleshooting of the aircraft. Data is stored for the last 25+ flight hours on the aircraft. Uses Cessna Aircraft Recording System (AreS).
Note about the maintenance system. In brochures for the aircraft, Cessna is claiming a perpetual license to use all information contained in the aircraftrecording and / or diagnostic systemsfor any reason, including maintenance and accident investigation. Cessna is claiming licensed permission to download, use, and/or read such information at any time. This agreement is binding for any future purchasers of the aircraft. You may want Cessna to eliminate this in your purchase agreement for the aircraft or have them modify it to be more restrictive in what they can read / track. Ensure that Cessna can not send your flight data to anyone else.
The avionics on the aircraft may also be called the Cessna 525 avionics. This is due to the fact that the official model name of the jet is 525.
The Garmin G3000 (and G2000/G5000) is an avionics system designed for light turbine aircraft. It is the first of its class to have an integrated touchscreen system, and it contains multiple glass cockpit displays, capable of operating a synthetic vision system, a three-dimensional displayed rendering of terrain. [1] The G3000 was unveiled at the NBAA Convention in 2009.
On 30 October 2019, Garmin announced that the Piper M600 and Cirrus Vision Jet would become the first general aviation aircraft certified with the company's emergency autoland system, intended to automatically land the aircraft in an emergency. The autoland system rolled out on 18 May 2020, and it is dubbed 'Autonomí' by Garmin.[2][3][4]
